A Success Story in Facsimile Art

This year, Verlag Müller & Schindler, an essential part of the Universal Art Group (UAG), celebrates 60 years of extraordinary publishing history. Since its founding in 1965 by Rolf Müller and the Schindler family, the publishing house has established itself as one of the leading organisations in the field of facsimile editions. With its meticulous reproduction of medieval manuscripts and precious book art, Verlag Müller and Schindler plays a crucial role in preserving cultural heritage.

The Beginning of a Success Story: The Nibelungenlied

The first major milestone was reached in 1968 with the publication of the Nibelungenlied – Manuscript C. This first facsimile edition laid the foundation for the publishing house’s success and set new standards in book art. The goal has always been to preserve the authentic quality of the original, making the spirit of these historical works accessible to a wider audience.

The takeover by Charlotte Kramer

A key milestone in the history of Müller and Schindler was the year 2002, when Charlotte Kramer took over the management of the publishing house. Under her leadership, the portfolio was continuously expanded, bringing new momentum to the world of facsimile art. Today, the publishing house is not only a guardian of the past but also a driving force for its digital innovations in the field of historical manuscripts.

“Our 60th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on our roots while looking ahead to the future. Our passion for book art drives us to constantly explore new ways to preserve this invaluable heritage and share it with the world.”  – Charlotte Kramer
