The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) is one of the most important book fairs in the Middle East. Every year, it brings together publishers, booksellers, literary agents, and cultural professionals from around the world – serving as a key meeting point for international exchange on current developments in the publishing industry.
From 29 April to 5 May 2025, the Universal Art Group once again took part in the ADIBF, represented by its publishing houses Verlag Müller & Schindler and the Faksimile Verlag. At the German Pavilion in Hall 8, Stand 8G05, we showcased our latest facsimile editions and art publications. The spotlight this year was on masterpieces of Islamic book art, which attracted considerable interest from an international audience.
Spotlight on Islamic Book Art
Our presentation focused on exquisite facsimile editions of Islamic manuscripts – treasures that reflect the rich heritage and artistic mastery of the Islamic world. These publications, known for their high level of craftsmanship and historical importance, resonated strongly with the diverse audience in Abu Dhabi.
Encounters, Exchange and Industry Insights
In addition to the exhibition itself, our team made full use of the week in Abu Dhabi for personal conversations and important industry meetings. The ADIBF once again offered the ideal opportunity to establish new contacts and deepen existing partnerships.
A particular highlight was the personal encounter with the renowned author Haruki Murakami, who was honoured this year with the Sheikh Zayed Book Award 2025 as “Cultural Personality of the Year.”
"Meeting Murakami was truly a special moment – his works transcend cultural boundaries in a way that perfectly reflects our publishing philosophy: books as bridges between worlds“,
said Charlotte Kramer, publisher of Müller & Schindler and the Faksimile Verlag.
ADIBF 2025 has once again demonstrated the importance of direct dialogue at international fairs – both with readers and with key players in the industry. We thank all visitors for the inspiring conversations and the great interest in our editions, and we already look forward to returning to Abu Dhabi!
